Solar Inverter Comparison Chart

Below is our detailed technical comparison of the most popular string solar inverters available in the Australian, European, Asian and US markets, plus the well-known Enphase microinverter. Most inverters listed below are from well-established manufacturers and are described in more detail in our best solar inverters article.

The latest inverters added to the list in 2023 are the next-generation inverters from Sungrow, Fronius, Goodwe, Growatt, Solax and Sofar, plus the new DS3D and QT2 microinverters from APsystems, along with microinverters from ZJ-Beny and Envertech. Many of these new inverters have only just become available, while the MIL Solar inverter is the only Australian-made string solar inverter. Provide your professional feedback here.

Detailed solar inverter comparison chart - latest update Feb 2023 - Clean Energy Reviews

  • MPPT String voltage range - Some manufacturers only specify the full operating MPPT voltage range, while others provide the optimal MPPT voltage range for maximum power and efficiency. Outside the optimal voltage range, the inverter will still generate power but at a reduced capacity. Refer to manufacturers’ datasheets for complete details.

  • MPPT Current A - Generally, only inverters with an MPPT current rating of 18A or higher, and an Isc rating greater than 20A, can be used with parallel strings on one MPPT (Depending on the current rating of the panels used) - Always refer to manufacturers guidelines and specifications.

  • Cert* - DC Isolator certified for Australia - Integrated ‘load-breaking’ DC switch disconnector complies with AS/NZS 5033, Amd 2018.

* This chart is to be used as a guide only - Check the latest manufacturers’ specifications and datasheets before selecting an inverter. Inverter models may vary by country or region.
